JJ Burke Car Sales was priviledged to speak out recently on an RTE News segment highlighting the challenges currently faced by many Irish businesses to recruit qualified staff, as we and other businesses call for urgent measures to be taken that would help to deal with the shortage of qualified staff by providing easier access to those seeking to relocate to Ireland from non-EU countries.
We have pointed out that a lack of available mechanics is leading to delays for those seeking service or repair work at many garages, and the process to secure permits for non-EU residents is too drawn-out and cumbersome where there is a lack of Irish and EU applicants for available roles. We and other businesses have called for an expansion to the Critical Skills list, which allows those with necessary competences to live and work here.
