The Winning Continues for Ballinrobe Dealership
The winning team at the Ballinrobe dealership have done it again. JJ Burke Car Sales have been announced as winners at the ZEVI Electric Vehicle Dealership of the Year awards in Dublin. The Mayo business took home the accolade of Connacht Dealership of the year.
124 car dealerships from 24 counties participated in this year’s awards with JJ Burkes winning in their category. Last month they won the Mayo award and last week they beat off competition from across Galway, Roscommon, Leitrim and Sligo to win the regional category in EV.
Pauline Burke, Director/ Dealer Principal at JJ Burke Car Sales said on accepting the award; “We couldn’t be happier, it is an honour to be here tonight as the Mayo winner and now to win the Connacht regional award is just fantastic. I accept this on behalf of Joseph, Karen, Gerry and all the team in Ballinrobe. We are delighted too that it is for EV as this is the future and it is now a big part of what we do.”
Zero Emissions Vehicles Ireland (ZEVI), an office within the Department of Transport, and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) recognise and reward outstanding efforts in promoting and encouraging electric vehicle (EV) uptake in Ireland. Dealerships were selected from a shortlist of county award winners, evaluated on several criteria including showroom visibility of EVs, salesperson knowledge of EVs, sales approach, EV training, sales trends and website presentation.
Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan said: "Car dealerships play a crucial role in the transition to clean and efficient transport and these awards recognise their efforts in promoting and selling EVs to Irish consumers. It is good to see the high level of engagement and commitment from car dealerships in Ireland.”
Declan Meally, Director of Business, Public Sector and Transport with SEAI commented: “We thank all the dealers who applied for the awards and heartily congratulate the regional winners on their success. We are continuously working with EV dealers to improve the journey for customers thinking about buying a new EV. It is exciting to see the growth in EV sales with 1 in 5 vehicles sold in Ireland in 2022 being electric. We are encouraged with the commitment of dealers to get motorists behind the wheel of clean energy EVs.”
JJ Burke Car Sales, a multi-franchise dealership selling new and used Renault, Peugeot and Dacia vehicles will be considered for the overall national award, to be announced at SEAI’s Energy Show in the RDS on March 30, 2023.
