All New Renault Megane E-Tech TopGear Review

26/01/2023

TopGear has published a comparative review of the Renault Megane E-Tech 100% electric vs Volkswagen ID.3 vs MG4 EV. The Megane E-Tech electric came out superior when compared to two of its major competitors across multiple dimensions!

At first glance, the Megane’s exterior was described as more ‘crowd pleasing’ than its competitors, with its impressive design earning it the description as the more expensive looking of the three despite being priced similarly to its Volkswagen rival.

This pattern continued into the interior with comments on the Megane E-Tech's trim material being nicer, seats more plush, stitched cloth on the dashboard and doors, and a sharper touchscreen than the other two electric cars. Once again the comment was made that it ‘feels by far the most expensive interior’. Both the Volkswagen and MG were critiqued for over-complicating the operating features, making it more difficult to use and more confusing, particularly when in a rush. In contrast, the Megane E-Tech electric was praised for being ‘miles easier to operate’ thanks to assigning hardware switches to functions that tend to be needed when you’re most in a hurry, describing the Renault systems as ‘comprehensive and state-of-the-art capable’.

The Megane E-Tech electric happened to be the most powerful of the three, with 220bhp compared to the 204bhp for the others. Not only was it the most powerful, but it was also noticed to have very little exterior noise coming from tyres, suspension and rushing air.

"The Renault is the best looking, has by far the nicest cabin, the best OS, and a properly sophisticated way of going down the road."
